A Grammatical Study of Pāli Dhammapada: With Special Reference to Kaccāyanabyākarana (Yamaka Vagga to Pubbha Vagga)

This thesis entitled “A Grammatical Study of Pāli Dhammapada: with Special Reference to Kaccāyanabyākaraṇa (Yamakavagga to Pubbhavagga)” has two objectives: 1) to study Pāli Grammar of Yamakavagga, Appamādavagga, Citavagga and Pubbhavagga in Dhammapada based on Kaccāyanabyākaraṇa, 2) to analyze the Pāli Grammar of Yamakavagga, Appamādavagga, Cittavagga and Pubbhavagga in Dhammapada based on Kaccāyanabyākaraṇa.

By reading and studying some books concerning the topic of the problem, this research is a qualitative research in nature focusing on a documentary method. Then the researcher collects the information from the books, documents and
the data from Dhammapada.

The study was found in the Dhammapada that fourteen stories and twenty gāthā in Yamaga vagga. The Appamāda vagga is composed nine stories and twelve gāthā. The Citta vagga comprises nine stories and eleven gāthā. The Pubbha vagga includes twelve stories and fifteen gāthā. All totally stories are forties four and
fifty-nine in the Dhammapada.
