This Dissertation is of 3 objectives: 1) To study the context of problems, and the concept of relationship building of Doi Chang Community in Chiengrai Province; 2) To study the process of creating peaceful relations according to Buddhist Peaceful means, 3) To present the process of building peaceful relations by the principles of peaceful means in the integrated perspective of Doi Chang Community, Chiengrai Province. The dissertation is a field-work qualitative research by the tools of documentary study, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussion divided the key informants into 2 groups: 1. General population (Independent Variables) amounting 10 people, 2. Significant informants, Doi Chang coffee farmers amounting 20 people; altogether total of the key informants of this research is 30 people.
From the research, it is found the followings:
1) Context of the problems in view of community relations: It is the refusal to listen to each other in Doi Chang community divided into 4 issues: 1. Being prejudiced with opponents, 2. Adhering to ideology or beliefs of one own selves, 3. Not accepting the actuality, 4. Having a very habit of expressing opinions. The concept of the relationship building of Doi Chang community is that the community: can strongly coexist and share both between man and man, as well as between man and the forest, between man and the nature, and stand on one own selves, has residential areas with strength and prominent point; has topography and climate facilitating the demonstration of the fundamental potential of having consciousness of wanting to be involved in helping one another. The community coexists under differences and diversities of cultures and ethnic races that each race respects and participates in traditional activities on different occasions of one another’s. This causes good relationships among one another and creates mutual understanding in order to live together peacefully.
2) The process of creating peaceful relations according to Buddhist Peaceful means: It is found that Sāraṇiyadhamma can be applied in the process of creating peaceful relations in Doi Chang community as it makes community members, whether they have different beliefs or religions or conflict of interest from doing Doi Chang coffee business, coexist; as it is a Dhamma principle that makes practitioners remember one another, treat one another properly, respect one another's rights and restrictions which can be applied in conjunction with Buddhist dialogue process with an emphasis on open-mindedness, deep listening to one another's feelings and needs. The discord that each person has towards each other hence transforms into mutual understanding.
3) The process of building peaceful relations by the principles of peaceful means in the integrated perspective: The process of building peaceful relations by the principles of Buddhist peace integration: It is the process under the 6 principles: 1. Sharing, 2. Encouragement, 3. Regards, 4. Offering assistance, 5. Not treating with persecution, and 6. Adherence to agreement. This leads to 3 results that can be seen as a concrete outcome of doing mutual activities: 1. The arise of traditional activities which is meant to help each other, 2. The arise of a community of sharing as a routine, and 3. The arise of dialogue and meeting activities to clarify the rules, restrictions and courtesy which ultimately results in the identity of the villagers in 8 aspects that reflect the way of living together in peace leading to the creation of a good relationship; they are called DOI CHANG MODEL: D = Deep Listening, O = Open mindedness, I = Interest: Mutually receive benefits, C = Culture: Restore good traditional culture, H = Humanity: Respect human values, A = Awareness: Live with consciousness, N = Nature: preserve the nature and environment, and G = Gratitude: Being grateful to Doi Chang; these are to be driven under the framework of thinking good, doing good, and speaking good, that is having compassionate mental, physical and verbal behaviors.
