The objectives of this thematic paper were as followers : 1) to study the local political participation of the people in the Prasong sub-district municipality of Thachana District, Suratthani province. 2) to compare the people’s local political partaking with the differences of gender, age, level of education occupation, and monthly income; and 3) to examine the suggested and the ways to solve the problems focusing on the local political participation of the people in the Prasong sub - district municipality. The people who have lived in the Prasong sub - district amounted 8,285 persons, and they were selected to study only 369 persons that were determined by using the square relationship between population and sample of the Krejcie and Morgan. The tools used in data collecting and data analysis were a set of questionnaire and the finished computer program in analyzing data. Standard deviation, and testing the hypothesis by statistical values of Z-test and F-test and a pair test was done by the method of LSD (Least Significant Difference).
The results of this study were as follows:
1) The local political participation of the people in the Prasong sub-district as a whole was at a middle level, while considering in each aspect found that the perception of information was at the highest level, followed by the rights of election and the aspect of job management/project was at the lowest level. The classifying by sex, age, level of education, occupation and monthly income totally occurred in the middle level.
2) The comparison of local political participation of the people in the case of gender or differences of occupation and monthly income were at statistical significance at 0.001 level. The sex showed the difference of statistical significance at 0.05 level. But in the case of age and level of education there were not different at statistical significance of 0.05 level.
3) The suggestions on the problems and the ways for solution of the local political participation at the Prasong Sub-district Municipality were as follow: the problem of voters was in the highest mean because they did not have the information and the policy of the candidates in election and the public media had no freedom to provide the correct facts to the people. So the ways to solve this problem was that the public media should be free to give correct political information for the people and should create a political sense of democracy in the aspect of the political participation to the people in the future as much as possible.
