แนวทางการพัฒนาวัดป่ารัตภูมิ จังหวัดสงขลา ให้เป็นสำนักวิปัสสนากรรมฐาน

The objectives of this thesis named ‘Guideline of Development Watparattaphum Songkla   Province to be Vipassana Meditation Center’ is to present the Development Guideline for both meditation practice and the surroundings of the practice in accordance with the principle found in the Buddhist Scriptures. The thesis has a mixed of the Quantitative Research and the Documentary Research and can be found in two stages. The first stage consists of documentary researched from the Buddhist Scriptures. It also complies with the rules and regulations of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand and the National Office of Buddhism. Questionnaires and the interviews were conducted with the open-ended questions with no guided answers given to the interviewees. The SWOT Analysis was applied to analyze the received answers to process as further policies. The second stage is the process of assessment and summarizing the results by interviewing and conducting questionnaires. There was a sample group of 268 Buddhist monks and lay-meditators from Watparattaphum involved in this process. The data was analyzed using SWOT Analysis then summarized in the form of CIPPI Model and presented in the Descriptive Statistics formation. The study found that.

The studies found that in order to make Watparattaphum a success insight meditation center, the center needs to have: 1) Its Readiness: this includes the Sangha, the temple, the surrounding communities, and the interests of practitioners. 2) Its Facilities: which includes the calm environment with easy access, sufficient food, nice and shady accommodation, enough meditation instructors that will help support or solve any problems that might arise. 3) Its Process to set up policies: for both Buddhist Studies and meditation practice, which is in accordance with the Buddhist scriptures. 4) Its Outcome: with the Scripture-based guidelines on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness practice, practitioners can obtain tranquility from his/her morality, concentration and insight. 5) Its Impact: practitioners gain faith as they practice along. The research results also showed that there is an interest shown for development of the temple, which in turn will act as supporting factors for the success.

        The research found that Guidelines for developing practice and environment for Vipassana meditation practice, according to the principles found in the Theravada Buddhist scriptures, is called the Sappaya 7. They are namely: 1) Avasa-sappaya (the suitable abode), 2) Gocara-sappaya (the suitable resort), 3) Bhassa-sappaya (the suitable speech), 4) Puggala-sappaya (the suitable person), 5) Bhojana-sappaya (the suitable food), 6) Utu-sappaya (the suitable climate), 7) Iriyapatha-sappaya (the suitable posture). These are the supporting factors which, according to Buddhist principles will lead Watparattaphum to its goals for development. They also go in accordance with the Theravada Doctrine and also with the rules and regulations of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand and the National Office of Buddhism.  The researcher sincerely hopes that this research will be beneficial to the development guidelines for other Dhamma-practice temples/centers so that it further benefits other communities, countries and the world.
