Building Social Peace as Depicted in Buddhist Scriptures

In this research, there are three objectives, namely, 1) To study the concept of building social peace as depicted in General, 2) To explore the building social peace as depicted in Buddhist Scriptures, and to present the building social peace approach to Modern Society. In this research, it was qualitative research focusing on a document based on investigation which was studied in the concerning of building social peace as depicted in Buddhist Scriptures.

The finding shows building social peace as depicted in Buddhist Scriptures that is social ethics leading to peaceful family such as the parents’ social ethics toward their son and daughter, son and daughter’s social ethics toward their parents, husband’s social ethics toward his wife, wife’s social ethics toward her husband to build social peace each family in the modern society. Buddhist social ethics provide good mind of foundation for personal and social growth toward peaceful society. We can see that most of the problems are directly or indirectly connected with a lack of good morality or Buddhist ethics in this present time.

               Otherwise, the finding shows that the five precepts are the most important to keep for every one getting the internal peace to leading to peaceful society of communities, members, one group or another group in a moral good behaviors and ethical ways to generate the perfect relationship into each society to live harmonious each other in the world. Additionally, the four sublime modes are the most important to cultivate them for everyone leading social peace towards living beings. He or she is seeking the well-beings of others with living-kindness for living together in social peace. He or she is feeling in the happiness of others with compassion for living together in social peace. He or she is sharing in the happiness of others with sympathetic joy for living together in social peace. He or she is maintaining a calm and steady mind for living together in social peace. These are great reducing of ill will, hatred, cruelty, jealousy, paranoia leading to peaceful society for modern world to build social peace for living harmonious each other society.
