Abstract (Thai)

The Development of a Desirable Personality Model (DPM) Integrated with Buddhism and The Five-Factor Model (FFM) of Personality in Psychology.” This dissertation has three main objectives: (1) to examine the Five-Factor Model (FFM) according to Psychology, (2) to study the concept of personality in Theravāda Buddhism, and (3) to create the Development of a Desirable Personality Model (DPM) Integrated with Buddhism and the Five-Factor Model (FFM) of Personality in Psychology. The methodology used for this qualitative research was selected to achieve these objectives using documentary sources and in-depth interviews.

The findings showed that this dissertation presents a new MICE Model as a Desirable Personality Model (DPM) integrated with Theravāda Buddhism and The Five-Factor Model (FFM) in Psychology. The concept of the Five-Factor Model (FFM) of personality, which originates from psychology, is introduced and analyzed in detail. The main elements which are Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, are examined, and the detailed characteristics of each element are outlined. The concept of personality according to Theravāda Buddhism is also introduced and explored. The Five Aggregate are analyzed in the context of the personality of the human body and mind. Furthermore, the cases of some model Buddhists’ personalities are explored, as well as the personality based on the six Carita and the personality mentioned in Suttanta. Finally, the DPM is verified based on its meaningfulness and characteristics, with the MICE model being proposed as a desirable personality model and it has been found that is the personality of the physical body and the personality of the mind as well as the new personality “MICE” Model integrated naturally. Intentionally, the DPM released a new “MICE” Model, called M (Middle Way), I (Investigation), C (Criteria), and E (Enlightenment Factor) for anyone to follow.
