บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

Building a sustainable and peaceful community is a long-term process which comprises many social elements. Nowadays, quality of life is not only based on external factors such as education, economy, health care or the surrounding environment. It is also based on the reciprocal engagement of individuals and community in various dialogues and activities which together become a collective source of peace and happiness for ordinary men and women.

Although Thailand’s agriculture has a huge comparative advantage among the countries of the world, unlike other countries, most agricultural producers in Thailand are impoverished, poorly educated, and politically unorganized. The researcher can see that there is a problem of shifting cultivation in many provinces in Northeast Thailand.  These problems affect not only provincial income but also slow down the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Thus, the need arose for a holistic approach to social enterprises that is consciously designed through the 4 dimensions of sustainability (ecology, economy, the social, and the cultural).

This study will explain the sources of productivity growth in Thai agriculture, both obstacles and opportunities in this developing sector of the economy. Emphasizing the role of community engagement and technology helps the agricultural sector reduce costs and increase sustainability in the supply chain. In the peacebuilding process, the basic Buddhist principles of non-violence, peace, and moral development can be applicable tools to guide the individual and the community as a whole.
