The reason for that the thirteen kinds of consciousness always present making most suitable for contemplation on characteristic and disappearance of minds. The noting-mind also must be accompanied by the five constituent of path knowledge whenever a Cittānupassanā practitioner makes an effort in contemplation.

The second part of the technique which is related to the Mogok Sayadaw’s method is “detecting thirteen kinds of minds through aspect of four devices”. It also can be understood as “identifying” of the thirteen kinds of minds from the standard point of the four modes so that Cittānupassanā practitioner will be able to observe or note the process of mind from the beginning to the end. Detecting thirteen kinds of minds trough aspect of four devices serves as a method for defining individual minds sharply.
